About
Dr. Miku Maria Lenentine is an environmental social scientist, educator, and community-engaged researcher at Kapiʻolani Community College. Her work explores how communities, students, researchers, government agencies, and community organizations can work together to strengthen resilience in the face of climate change and other social and environmental challenges.
Through the CERENE Sustainability Laboratory and Community Engagement for Resilient Neighborhoods program, she leads applied research and educational initiatives connecting community resilience, sustainability science, Indigenous knowledge, renewable energy, participatory research, and student leadership.
Her work is particularly focused on developing place-based, reciprocal approaches to research in which communities are partners in defining questions, collecting and interpreting information, and translating research into practical resources.
